The 10 Most Disappointing Games of 2008

Age of Conan

I’m really disappointed Age of Conan is on this list. I understand why: after about level 35, there just isn’t enough content and upon launch there were quite a few bugs. The bugs are mostly worked out now, but lack of content for high levels still plagues the game.

Still, I’ve played a LOT of online games and this is by and far the best to come along (if you have a PC powerful enough to play it). It plays not like an MMO, but like an engaging arcade game. Many times, I felt like I was playing an upgraded Tomb Raider with the benefits of an online community, not a WoW successor. I didn’t care for some of the adult-oriented content—it just didn’t need it (I turned the gore off)—but wow, what a game.

What’s even more disturbing is that Warhammer Online didn’t make this list. That game is completely non-immersive, combat is so repetitive and graphics are sometimes worse than the much older WoW.

Sigh.
